Since 2004, Henan University English Speaking Contest was officially launched in the spring. As time goes on, it has become one of the most prestigious and classic competition of all our English Culture Festival events. It is an excellent event for avid English learners to present as well as share their ideas. Each year, the contest showcased a wide range of brilliant speeches from students of many different departments with different academic backgrounds and language proficiency.
This is the 14th year that we host this competition. Students from different departments signed for it, with 30 students reaching the final. For most contestants, it may not be of vital importance to win a place in the competition, nor to be rewarded, but the most important of all might be that they harvest the experience of attending such a significant event itself. They get to voice their own ideas on related topics, present the best part of themselves in front of the audience, and communicate with contestants from other departments from whom they may have a lot to learn as well. What’s more, this annual spectacular event not only offers a fantastic stage for the contestants but also inspires so many other students and reveals to them all sorts of possibilities they can have.
